Frequently Asked Questions

This list of frequently asked questions (faq) provides answers to some of the many questions we receive.  At Majaid Web Solutions, we receive numerous questions from a variety of sources (email, text, phone, etc.).  We compiled this list to save you time by knowing the answers to previously asked questions.

Why do I need a business website?

A website provides a relatively inexpensive method of marketing to new customers, providing support to existing customers, and providing information to all customers. The Internet has become the go-to place for web users looking for information. A website becomes an extension of your marketing plan. Almost all young users turn to the Internet to search for information.

Why do I need a well-designed website?

Web users have little patience for poorly designed or slow loading websites. They will quickly leave your website if they don’t see what they are looking for within 10 seconds. We track this issue (known as bounce rate) using analytics and we improve each of your web pages so that visitors spend more time on your website.

Why does my website need to use web standards?

Following web standards cuts down on development time, makes sites easier to update and maintain, helps improve search engine rankings, and improves accessibility to people with disabilities, those using mobile devices, and individuals with low bandwidth Internet providers. Using web standards saves time and money: two important benefits for web site owners. In addition, a correctly designed and coded website will work on future devices without the need for costly revisions.

On what platforms/browsers do you test websites?

Not only are websites tested on different browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and Safari) but the websites are tested on a variety of platforms such as desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. With the increase of people embracing the web through a range of devices, it is important to ensure that a web site operates correctly across a wide range of browsers and platforms.

Do websites have to look the same across all browsers and devices?

The short answer is no, however, a website should function the same across all browsers and devices.

How much does a website cost?

Without conducting a detailed needs analysis, it is impossible for us to say. We custom quote each project taking into consideration a variety of options. For example, we look at the functionality requirements, the complexity of the design, hosting requirements, training needs and ongoing maintenance support required. In our discussions, we determine the best and most cost-effective solution for your business. We show you the numbers up front so that there are no surprises.

How long does it take to design a website?

A fairly simple website of 6 to 8 pages will normally take between 2 to 4 weeks. The most important steps that take the most time are the consultations on website design and creating the content for each page. Once the design decisions are complete, the actual writing of the individual page code goes rather quickly. A more complex website will naturally take longer to design and code.

What process do you follow in design websites?

We follow these steps:

  1. Consult – we discover what you want, what you like, and gain an understanding of your needs;
  2. Plan – we provide a written design proposal which includes an estimate, a schedule, several mock-ups, and a site map;
  3. Design – we create the look and feel, layout, and style for the website;
  4. Develop – we write the code, test each page, and optimize each page for speed;
  5. Launch – this is when your website goes live; and
  6. Maintain – we enhance, edit, update, and promote your website. We also track and provide visitor statistics so you gain an understanding of who is visiting your website.
